Spring and summer rainfall created precious reserves of groundwater in the soil. The important temperature swings between daytime warmth and evening and nighttime coolness created the conditions for a slow and balanced ripening of the grapes. Mild September weather assisted in arriving at harvest time with healthy Chardonnay grapes with a bracing acidity.
